Votes matter! Turnout in the 2020 presidential elections broke every record. The numbers are astounding, making the fact that this turnout happened while we were battling a global pandemic make the numbers even more groundbreaking. Instead of celebrating the success of mail in, drop off and other methods of voting in delivering the largest voter participation in history, dozens of state legislatures have jumped into action introducing hundreds of pieces of legislation to restrict voting access in 2021! Arizona leads the nation in proposed voter suppression legislation in 2021, with 19 restrictive bills currently being considered. My guest today is Katie Hobbs, Arizona’s Secretary of State, whose responsibilities include administering all elections in the state, and certifying their results.
