It’s Thursday, the day we usually visit with Howie Klein of Down with Tyranny and the Blue America PAC. He’ll be here today. We’ll talk about the three so-called Democrats who tanked the provision that would allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. It makes no sense, so we’ll get Howie’s take on it (and find out from him who these three so-called Democrats are). Before I get Howie on the line, I’ll check in with Alex Lawson, executive director of Social Security Works whose Tweet about those three caught my attention today. It read: “.@KathleenRice you just stood with pharma to keep our drug prices the highest in the world. How much did pharma pay you to ignore the will of your constituents and the American people? Absolute villainy.” We’ll talk with Howie about that, and what it signals for the rest of President Biden’s (and Bernie Sanders’) agenda.
